Mallorcan "lenguas" fabrics belong to the ikat tradition, linked to the exchange of knowledge between the East and the Mediterranean via the Silk Road.
Its creation begins before the weaving: parts of the threads are tied and reserved to be dyed according to a planned pattern. Afterward, the loom reveals the composition.
The colors meet with slightly blurred edges. Shapes appear that resemble tongues of fire, giving name to this expression of Mallorcan craftsmanship.
